Video will open in a new window. Vintage (July, 1970) Reuge "magic door" singing bird cage in outstanding condition (just fully serviced) with original highly colorful bird feathers. Exceptional quality (100% mechanical hand wound) and a fantastic singer.
This is a rather rare model that was only crafted shortly after Reuge starting making Reuge branded pneumatic automatons in the late 1960s. I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated) the mechanical movement so this bird cage operates perfectly like all pneumatic automatons that I sell. The mechanism is exceptionally clean and sturdy and is ready for another generation of smiles with zero worries. The bird is in outstanding original condition with bright and colorful feathers.
The mechanism is also in excellent condition and so is the leather covered wooden bellows. In summary, this singing bird cage is sure to please. This model singing bird cage operates with a simple push of the button whereby the doors magically open, the bird sings/animates and then stops after the doors magicly close. Stands approximately 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide at the bottom base. Overall excellent condition with minimal patina - several tiny blemishes to the finish on the top cover that are only noticeable upon close inspection."Bellows have perfect air pressure, no leaks/cracks & another generation of use with no worries".
