Vintage Lador Swiss Music Box 3 Tunes 50 Notes Plays Great Walnut Shield Case
Offered here is a vintage circa 1940s Lador Swiss music box. This company like Thorens no longer exists and is a high quality pre Reuge music box. The music box mechanism plays loud and clear. It is a 50 note mechanism and it plays 3 tunes.
It plays Schubert Standchen (Serenade), Under the Limetree and The Blue Danube Waltz. The slide button on the front allows you to play one song and stop or play continuous. The music box is housed in a dark walnut and ebony case with quality mortise and tenon joinery. The case measures 6" by 3 3/4" and stands 2 1/2 in height. There is an inlaid shield on the top of the case.
The case is well constructed and very sturdy. I have rotated the case so you can see all sides. It has a clear tune card in the lid of the box and the mechanism is covered by a glass dust shield.
The case has no chips or cracks and would benefit from some furniture oil. The only thing I noticed is it is missing one corner block on the very bottom. You will be thrilled with the loud sound from this small box.
