Rare wood inlay from Sorrento ItalyThis type of inlay, called "marquetry", or in Italian "intarsia" results from a highly complex process requiring hours of meticulous work.

Dozens of separate pieces of rare wood are cut and assembled to produce each intricately patterned case. Even today, most of the work is still done by hand, producing slight variations from box to box. Thus, each box is a unique creation. "That's What Friends Are For" song is played by a precision musical wind-up movement made by the Reuge company of Switzerland.
