Vintage Gruen Musical Pocket Watch With Boxes by REUGE
This is a great example of the Gruen Music Time pocket watch in the original inner & outer boxes. It is in running condition. It is the NOTRE DAME VICTORY MARCH. The musical movement is made by Reuge (Swiss). The watch is open face, stem wind and set, and measures 55mm in diameter.
The case is gold-tone, with an engine-turned design on the case back. The back also has a small winder for the musical mechanism, and a small pin that when lifted out with your finger nail plays the musical piece.
The white dial has black roman numerals. The watch has no wear, dents, or issues. Looks like it may never have been carried. I will call it excellent. It comes with a gold-tone chain (was with the watch when I got it).
The boxes are absolutely original to this watch. I have seen other examples in wrong boxes, but these are correct.
The inner box is marked Music Time, and has a fitted circle for the watch. The outer cardboard box is marked Music Time by GRUEN on the lid. Also, it has a red sticker indicating the name of the musical movement maker and the tune it plays. There is a second red sticker on the side of the box bottom.
It is basically the same sticker, but the tune name has been crossed out. The inner box is excellent.The outer box shows wear, mostly along the edges. I do not have the original paperwork.
