Reuge Swiss Music Box "Music of the Night" No. 6309 - Wood Base - Works.

Authentic Reuge Swiss music box movement, made in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, mounted in a solid, dense hardwood base. The movement plays "Music of the Night" No. 6309 and winds, runs, and sounds excellent, with clear tone.

This appears that was originally designed to be displayed under a glass dome, which is no longer present. The wood base is well-made, heavy, and finely finished, with concentric turned detailing that complements the exposed brass movement beautifully. The base appears to be walnut but not sure about the wood species. Reuge is widely regarded as the gold standard of Swiss music box makers. Movement is functional and plays beautifully. Wood base is in overall excellent condition with attractive grain and finish. No cracks or structural issues. There are a two handwritten markings on the wood base, located on the underside / inner recessed area (see photos). Tune: Music of the Night.

Material: Solid hardwood base, brass movement. Condition: Pre-owned, very good condition. Round wood base: 7 1/2" diameter, 1 3/4" high.

Round music box: 2 5/8" diameter, 1 1/2" high. Reuge music box movement mounted in original wood base.
