This sale is for a beautiful music box with a 72-note movement by Reuge of Switzerland. A movement of this size is commonly used to present three different tunes, but sometimes it will play three distinct parts of a particular composition, in this case "The Thieving Magpie" by Rossini.
Each part is distinct and absolutely beautiful. The box itself, which measures 8" x 11", is light- olored unvarnished myrtlewood, and was made in Bandon, Oregon. The box and the movement were brought together about35-40 years ago. The interior is not behind glass, though you could of course add that it you wished.
After winding with the key on the underside, the music can be turned on by moving the horizontal wooden rod to the right. Moving the rod to the left prepares the movement to turn off when he tune cycle has completed itself. Has been carefully handled and cared for. And is in like-new condition.
