Made by Jobin of Switzerland, this very sweet Vintage Village of revolving Wooden Swiss Chalets, winds from the top (clockwise) and plays, " Tiroler Holzhackerbuam" Swiss Reuge mechanism. The roofs of the 4 chalets are hinged and act like mini jewelry boxes. It measures 8.5 " square and stands about 5 1/2" high. Condition: Reuge movement works great.
This has some dust & wear. One tree is loose, could easily be reglued, I point it out in pics. It's hand-painted with careful detail... The roof of each of the five houses lifts to reveal a little compartment and there is one little man out for a stroll. Benches, Bolders and a Bridge dot the landscape.
It is charming and in excellent condition. It also has (rarely seen these days) a wooden off/on - push /pull peg to stop the music without lifting it from its place.
They don't make them like that any more. In fact, there are only a few little chalets being made today (probably for the Swiss Tourist market) and most usually, the music is left to wind down.
