Reuge Swiss Dancing Couple Music Jewelry Box Strauss Emperor Waltz Automation
This listing is for a vintage Deco style REUGE MUSIC Jewelry BOX Made in Switerland with a 3 panel mirror surrounded by a light blue velvet & trim lthat perfectly reflects the beautiful Dancing Waltzing Spinning Couple. The Detailed Elegant Formal Attired Dancers Spins & Twirl To The Emperor Waltz. We are including a video so you can hear & see the magic! It does not upload immediately but should appear shortly. WONDERFUL CONDITION FOR ITS AGE we are guessing 1940-50's? Wood needs a good cleaning and reconditioning and staining to make it look like new. We did not attempt to clean or repair any of the knicks or scratches. Hinge, lid, dancers and Music are working. NOTE The previous owner placed a small tape that seems to be to help trigger the music which we did not remove we did not remove. You can see in over the hinge in some of the pics in front of the mirror. It is NOT to repair the hinge since the hinge appears to be in great condtion. There are some bumps & dings to the exterior and some marks on the bottom we did not attempt to clean or repair the issues.
The box measures approx 6 2/8'' long x 4 3/8'' wide x 3 3/8'' high inside 2 departments for jewelry and in the center dancing couple is mounted. They have up and down and spin around movement. Base marked - MADE IN SWITZERLAND with REUGE Label Swiss musical movement with music name "The Emperor Waltz ". The music box in Very Good condition for age and definately will imporve in appearence with a little work.

The waltz was originally titled Hand in Hand and was intended as a toast made in August of that year by Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph I on the occasion of his visit to the German Emperor Wilhelm II where it was symbolic as a'toast of friendship' extended by Austria-Hungary to the German Empire.
