Reuge Sante Croix Rare Miroir Music Box Made In Switzerland Danseurs 1778
This Reuge Swiss music box comes from an estate, and we are unsure of its original acquisition history. All components are in proper working order, and both pairs of dancers function perfectly, still dressed in their bright, original costumes. The "magic mirror" feature is particularly charming - with the light off, it appears as a simple wall mirror, but when illuminated, it reveals an enchanting scene of two pairs of dancers, dressed in elegant finery, gliding across a herringbone floor. The mirror/glass does show some clouding (possibly just in need of cleaning), but when the light is on, the dancers are clearly visible, and the magic of the scene remains intact. The music box produces a clear, pleasant sound and plays two tunes (listed below). On the side of the unit are two buttons: one to illuminate the interior, and another to activate the music and set the dancers in motion. A small plaque on the front of the gold-leafed frame reads. Several labels on the underside indicate voltage specifications, the titles of the tunes, and the notation 2/50. The blue Danube, Clair de Lune.
