RARE Vintage Reuge Musical Christmas Bauble. WORKING! 3 Diam. Plays Silent Night

RARE Vintage Reuge Musical Christmas Bauble. STILL WORKING and plays "Silent Night" when you pull the embossed ring on the top. Good condition for its age. Not sure what it is made of but it sounds like plastic but it is quite heavy. It is approx 3 in Diameter and is marked around the metal star on the top ROUGE STE-CROIX SWISS MADE PATENT.

St-Croix village was a renowned centre of the music box industry. Charles Reuge discovered the village in 1865 where he established his first Musical Pocket watch shop. In 1886 his son Albert opened a music box workshop.

In 1930 a factory was built in St-Croix. After the second world war american soldiers returning home started a trend of bringing music boxes back in their luggage. Little Swiss musical movements fitted into all sorts of products! From smoke and pet free home.
