Reuge 72 Note Interchangeable Cylinder Music Box. 5 Cylinders and 15 Airs. This is a stunning music box that is very hard to find. Any of the interchangeable cylinder music boxes are hard to find and expensive.

I tested this unit with the various cylinders and it played and sounded beautifully. I tried to find the age of this unit, but was unable. I feel that Reuge would have a catalog of all their offerings over the years but I was unable to find one. I'm going to keep working on that project. This box has some pitting on the brass accents and on the cylinders.

I also noticed some oxidation on one side of the cylinder ends (4 of the 5 have small amounts of oxidation), as-pictured. It might be possible to clean the oxidation, but I don't know how. The cylinders are a little dusty which makes me think this is an older offering. I didn't want to clean them and risk damaging the pins because they are fragile. I didn't notice any damage to any of the player pins or disks and changing the cylinders is easy.

Overall a beautiful offering that I believe is made of rosewood with an inlaid banding. This is a very heavy offering that I will package appropriately. I have a 144 note music box in my foyer that I occasionally play and it is impressive how loud and clear these units are.
