The box measures 5 1/4 inches to the top of Schroeder's head and is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. There is a Reuge label on the bottom and also a stamp indicating the piece was made in Italy in 1968 by Anri. The music box plays the theme from the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.
5 in E-flat Major, Op. 73, also known as the Emperor Concerto. The music box is in good working condition. The surface the piece was on for the photographs amplified the sound of the mechanism a bit, but I went ahead and used it because you can hear the mechanism when it plays, but it is not that loud on other surfaces. The piece has some accumulated age but no major flaws or damage. There is one flaw along the edge near the bottom. These are decorative pianos from my mother's collection. She was a professional pianist and teacher who passed away in November of 2019. There are many boxes of these that have been in storage since her death.I would prefer that someone was enjoying them. I have many things from my mother that I treasure and have no more room to display these. Thanks for looking and have a beautiful day!
