The musical movement was created by Reuge of Switzerland and is made of solid brass. The musical program features songs by Italian classical musicians Verdi, Puccini, and Rossini.
The music box has a makers plaque on the underside, ornate brass handles on two sides, and ornate brass feet. Unfortunately the primary winding spring is broken and currently will not wind up. It was working fine but I wound it to play it some more & I heard/felt the spring give way. I'm sure this could be easily repaired by a professional jeweler or clock repair facility. Overall this is a beautiful music box and, with minimal repair, would be as new.
Measures about 16 L x 6.5 D x 5 h. There are 5 interchangeable cylinders with 10 arias from well known Italian operas. Verdi: Aida - Triumphal March and Rigoletto, La donna e' mobile. Verdi: Il Trovatore - Anvil Chorus, and La Traviata - Sempre Libera. Rossini: The Barber of Seville - Una voce poco fa and William Tell - Tyrolean Air. Puccini: Madam Butterfly - Un Bel Di, and La Boheme, Mimi's Waltz. Verdi: Nabucco - The Hebrew Slaves, and Rigoletto, Quartet. Music box will be extra carefully packed, double boxed and insured for the full amount.
