This early to mid century music box is a classic beauty and is in GREAT condition. It has been cleaned and serviced for another generation to enjoy. The "birdseye" box style is iconic, and a thing of beauty.
The FOUR-tune playlist is classical, intricate, and it sounds terrific. Lift the lid to reveal the world-class 4/50 movement from the Swiss craftspeople of Thorens. Thorens made outstanding music boxes starting in the 1880's.
You will see it is clean and shiny and it looks great. The mechanism winds up smoothly and functions perfectly. It switches between the songs effortlessly and automatically.
The music starts and stops (at tune end) via the front slider. The original Thorens tune label is present.
This music box plays four beloved tunes from European masters. Each of these tunes are exceptionally well adapted to music boxes. Die Spieluhr literally means "The Music Box" as it was written for a mechanical clockwork organ. The box is in great condition.
The finish is in very good shape with only light signs of wear. Please see the pictures for the beauty of this piece. The musical movement was inspected, lightly cleaned, properly lubricated, and cycled.
The sound quality is excellent. It is rich and crisp. There are NO instances of resonance (squawks or buzzes) that can occur in vintage music boxes. These vintage Thorens box are LOUD thanks to the excellent construction.
