Vintage REUGE Music Box Pendant Charm Cameo Sterling Silver 925 Gold Overlay
This Music Box Pendant was given to me in the early 80's. I have never worn it as a pendant and it has pretty much been stored since it was given to me. I don't quite know what the design is on the front. It kind of looks like a dancer but I'm not quite sure. The white / whitish design is raised - it may have been hand carved but I don't know for certain. The background is kind of a peachy color that fades to lighter towards the top. There are a few white streaks on the bottom half (there's one on the left and size and a few lighter ones on the right hand side - please see photos).
I don't remember if they were they when it was given to me or they appeared over time. On the back side, it says Reuge on one side of the wind up handle and Swiss Made on the other. On the bottom part of the back side it says 925 and then there is what looks like a star and the numbers 288 or 299 or a combination (I can't quite tell if they are 8's or 9's) and then the letter F and possibly something else (I can't quite see that small).
I think it has a gold overlay (I'm assuming it's just gold toned). Please note that the color has discolored / oxidized / tarnished some. Also, the center decorative piece has a slight upward curve to it.
You can see in by looking at it from the bottom of the music box - you can see a little bit of a gap and the prongs don't fit over the bottom part of the center piece / cameo as well as the prongs fit on the sides. I don't know if that was originally like that or if that happened over time. It is in excellent working condition - the wind up part works great, the stop and start pull button works gread. It plays perfectly but I don't recognize the song.
I also tried to open it to take a picture of the inside but I could not open it. I don't know if there is a trick to it but I didn't want to try too hard as I was afraid I might break it. If you want a picture of the inside, I will try again or will take it to a jeweler to have them open it for me. 1" tall x 3/4" wide x 1/2 deep.
