To Play- Just below the key is a small brass button. The button is used to start and stop the music. Slide the button to the right to start the music, and to the left to stop the music. When you slide the button to the left to stop the music, it won't stop immediately, it will play until the spring loaded stop arm goes into the small hole on the end of the cylinder and locks it in place so the cylinder is stopped in between songs.
