The box itself is made in Switzerland and measures approximately 6 1/4 x 4 x 2 1/2. It Is beautiful deep sepia-toned lacquered box that is in excellent condition and shows little signs of aging. These Swiss boxes are well made and the lacquer or shellac finish on this style box seems to hold up much better than other boxes from the same period. The scene on the lid is quite elegant and a mirror on the inside of the lid reflects the music box as it plays; a lyre button on the front slides to turn on or off the music.
